This afternoon the inauguration of the Futsal World Cup was held, which is held in Balaguer between November 18 and 24, and in which 11 teams from different countries participate and which is organized by the World Futsal Association .

The AMF Under-20 Futsal World Championship is an international futsal tournament, in which the youth national teams of the member countries of the World Futsal Association (AMF) compete. This sporting event started in 2014, is organized by the AMF and is held every four years. Currently, it is the most important tournament for national futsal teams in the Under-20 category, which compete under the rules of the World Futsal Association.

During the inauguration, it was possible to see different manifestations of popular Catalan culture, with a sardana ballad performed by different gangs of the city, a ballad performed by the Gegantera i Grallera de Balaguer gang, the Ball de Bastons and the group of Bandelpal percussion.

Next, the participating teams were announced, which are Brazil, Uruguay, India, Paraguay, Italy, Australia, Monaco, Colombia, Mexico, France and Catalonia, which paraded to the center of the track.

Finally, the event ended with a welcome from Rolano Alarcón, president of the World Futsal Association; of Óscar Martínez, Deputy for Sports of the Provincial Council of Lleida; and Balaguer’s mother in chief, Lorena González.
